Common Cleaning Mistakes You Need to Avoid!

Common Cleaning Mistakes You Need to Avoid!

After making common cleaning mistakes everyone feels guilty. Some of these mistakes may appear simple or even silly, but they not only add hours to our cleaning time, but they also render our cleaning effort lacking and ineffective. It is important to learn from our mistakes that is why; I will present to you some common cleaning mistakes that you need to avoid.

Relying on bleach too much

Let us face it; bleach has been a household staple long before many of us were born. However, advancements in technology have branded bleach as not very effective at cleaning. Add the harsh chemicals in bleach that can cause damage to the house and you have a very good argument to skip bleach on your next spring-cleaning. Look to the internet for natural/green cleaning solutions that you can make on your own. You save money while saving the environment.

Going straight to harsh products

The lazy inner voice in us will fool us into thinking that harsher cleaning products will cut our cleaning time dramatically so we obey. The thing is that most cleaning scenarios can be addressed using natural DIY cleaning solutions that are safe. Alternatively, go with milder products that are environmentally friendly.

Using too much product

Too much cleaning product is a common mistake. Imagine having to wash a load of clothes and you put in too much detergent, so you need to wash the clothes more, not only to remove the dirt but also the excess detergent.

Not closing the shower curtain

The bathroom is the most unpleasant area of your home for cleaning. Save yourself from additional agony by closing the shower curtains after a bath. When shower curtains are open, water and moisture get trapped in the folds and over time, will develop mold and mildew, which can then spread in the bathroom. If you have a non-slip shower mat, hang it on to dry.

Using too much paper towels

Paper towels are very handy in the kitchen, but using too much becomes ridiculous as it adds quite a chunk of your household budget. Therefore, if you have old white shirts you do not use anymore repurpose them and cut them into tiny towels, which you can reuse over and over again. Not only you save money but you will also be more environmentally friendly.

Dirty cleaning tools

This seems like a no-brainer that we have all been guilty of. It is just logical not to wipe a stove top with an already soiled cloth, right. This practice will not only be ineffective, but you also risk cross-contamination by spreading germs and bacteria. Clean your tools after using, to avoid it of dirt, germs, and bacteria and ready for the next cleaning job.

Letting the dishes pile up

Mentally, it is tougher to wash a huge pile of dishes, but it can also prove to be more difficult physically. Hand washes dishes as soon as you can and avoid the pileup. A few seconds here and there is a lot easier than a stack of messy dishes.

Ignoring product directions

Not reading the label on the products we use is a surefire way to make a cleaning fail. The manufacturers will have recommendations on how to use the product, how much you need, and where to use it.

Therefore, if it says a cup of detergent for a load of clothes do not be an over smart and just follow the instructions. Do the same with cleaning tools; follow the manufacturer’s instructions to prevent electrocution, injury or worse.

Not preparing your cleaning tools and products

Before you even begin to clean, take out the tools and products you need and put them somewhere close as you clean. This will save you time and energy from running back and forth the storage just to get the things you need one at a time.

Hoarding unnecessary stuff

Raise your hand; I know you are guilty of this also. Whether it be old remembrances from a wedding you attended years ago or old issues of magazines you have lying around, these things can add up quickly and take up considerable space in our homes.

You can start with the fridge and dispose of expired food items, old cooking utensils from your kitchen to heavily outdated clothes in the wardrobe. Go through the entire house and be firm in disposing items you do not use or have any need of anymore.

These are just, some common cleaning mistakes which we have committed at least once in our lives. Let us just learn from our mistakes so we can clean the house more efficiently.

Getting bored of doing the cleaning with your own, then you need to hire a professional cleaning company.

Remove Oil Stains from Carpet

Home Tips to Remove Oil Stains from Carpet

Everyone loves to decorate their house by covering floors with beautiful carpets and rugs but stains on it can ruin its look. Carpet can get dirty through food stain, coffee stain, dust and many more. Cleaning carpet is a backbreaking task and over that, it becomes more difficult when you have to remove oil stains from carpet. We have some methods lined up for you to clean your carpets. There is no need of extraordinary things to execute this job. These tasks can be executed using daily life household things.

Method 1: Using Baking Soda or Corn Starch

  1. First of all you need to apply baking soda or corn starch on the stained area thoroughly. These two reagents are great absorbents; they have the ability of absorbing the liquid oil from the carpet without staining it more or affecting the carpet. Don’t rub to harshly, scrub it firmly so it penetrates into the carpet fibers. You can use a utility brush for large oil stains, and an old toothbrush for small stains.
  2. Apply proper amount of baking soda or corn starch on the carpet let it settle on the stain for few minutes. Approx. 15-20 minutes, using a vacuum cleaner on it clean the carpet. The vacuum cleaner will suck the entire residue from the carpet.
  3. Add one-fourth teaspoon of dishwashing liquid to one quart of warm water. Make sure the dishwashing liquid is a lanoline or bleach free. Apply this water and dishwashing liquid to the stain directly. Blot the stain area of the carpet until the oil stain is no longer visible.

Method 2: Employing Rubbing Alcohol

  1. You might be shocked and thinking how alcohol and carpet cleaning relates? Don’t get confused, this is ethanol based liquid and also called as isopropyl alcohol (Rubbing alcohol). Yes, alcohol helps in removing carpet stains. Apply small amount of rubbing alcohol on a clean cloth or paper towel. Use this cloth or paper towel on the stain by rubbing it for a while and you can see the magic. However, you need to be careful, as it is highly inflammable so do not keep any fire objects near it.
  2. Rub alcohol on the affected area. Keep on rubbing until the stain removed. Repeat this process until the stain gets removed. After finishing this, wash the affected area on the carpet.

Method 3: Using Dry Cleaning Solvent

Carpet stains can removed using dry cleaning solvent. But you need to test it before applying on the carpet. First try on the carpet somewhere in the corner, so you can do a pre-test to check, if it leaves any mark or not. After the test done, then put the solvent on the carpet stained area. Let the solvent settle on the stain leave it for few minutes, and then rub it with a wet cloth on the area.

If your carpet is affected with more stains, repeats the procedure again to remove the rest of the stains.

The advantages of using these reagents are as follows-

  • They are environment friendly.
  • They will not harm your body either.
  • They are available easily in every shop.

If this method does not work and you are still wondering how to get oil stains out of carpet, then you can call professional carpet cleaning at All pro carpet care. We provide a wide range of carpet cleaning services in Bakersfield and nearby areas.

Top 6 Home tips for Carpet Maintenance

So, you have cleaned your carpet & now it looks clean & smells great. Now you want to keep them looking good for as long as possible. So for this carpet maintenance is vital.

  1. Remove your shoes, Please!

Shoes are the main source of your carpets get dirty. Most outdoor pollutants that enter your home are walked in on shoes. Even though the soles may appear to be clean, they carry fine particles and oily substances that come in contact with your carpets. Request your family and guests to remove their shoes before coming inside. Just remind them that in many countries it is considered bad manners to wear shoes inside!

High heels should be strictly avoided on the carpet, as the sharp heels can catch on the carpet fibers, & you can fell down and can hurt your self. Most people are unaware that bare feet can also leave your carpet looking dull and dirty. Even if your feet look clean, they still have an oily sticky particle on them that leaves a residue on your carpet that will actually attract dirt. Using separate slippers and socks for home would be a great idea.

  1. Get a good vacuum cleaner:

Investing in a good quality vacuum cleaner and learning how to use and maintain it, is the first step in protecting your health and carpet. But there are so many vacuums in the market, how do you know which is the right one?

Dual Motors – An upright vacuum with dual motors is an ideal choice because it utilizes one motor for the vacuum and one to operate the revolving head, resulting in no loss of power.

Upright – Barrel vacuum cleaners will only provide suction and therefore only take off the surface dirt. An upright vacuum will have a revolving head or “beater” that will lift and separate the carpet fibers. This vibrating action allows dirt to be removed from deeper down in the pile.

HEPA Filter – Make sure it features a HEPA filter. This will retain 99.9% of what you pick up and stops it from being recirculated back into the air and into the carpet, or worse – into your lungs!

Wattage -You will need one that is powerful enough to pull the dirt from deep in the pile – not just clean the surface. The higher the wattage is, the more powerful the motor will be.

  1. Vacuum cleaning:

Vacuuming is the best & easiest thing you can do to extend the life of your carpet and keep your home safe with healthy air to breath. Regular vacuuming with a good quality cleaner will remove up to 80% of the contaminants that are living in your carpet.

Weekly vacuuming, at a minimum, is important to keep the levels of dust particles and allergens away. Remember to always vacuum against the natural direction of the pile of your carpet, as this will remove more pollutants, giving a better result.

  1. Keep the Sunshine Outside:

You might be thinking why so? Right.

The sunshine will kill bacteria and germs, but it will also damage your carpet.

The UV rays penetrating through your windows can distort colors and bleach patches of carpet that are continuously exposed. Dull colors are equally as affected as darker tones, and it usually doesn’t become evident until you next rearrange the furniture.

Reduce the impact of sun damage by installing and using blinds, curtains or awnings.

  1. Should use Rug Runners:

By using doormats at the entry point of your house, will be able to control some of the dust by entering the house.

To keep high traffic areas like hallways looking good, a mat or runner is excellent. These can reduce the wear on your carpet, can be changed easily and add a personal touch to your decor.

  1. Learn How To Care For Your Carpet:

You should learn how to clean up a spill is vital in the care of your expensive carpets. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions according to the type of carpet you have installed.

It is necessary to remove the spill quickly before it penetrates the pile and it is always best to call the experts, but there are a few basic things you can do at home until your carpet cleaning technician arrives: Work from the outer edge of the spill to the center, scooping up any excess

Use only plain white absorbent materials otherwise, you may find that colors are transferred to your carpet making the problem worse

Add a small amount of water to help soak up the spill

Keep blotting until no color is transferring to the absorbent material – it is important not to rub as rubbing will make the carpet look “fuzzy” and distorted and spread the stain further.

carpet cleaning methods

Do It Yourself Carpet Cleaning Methods

The carpet is the accessory in our home, which we can’t do without, but not because it is compulsory to have it. If you think, you will realize that a carpet creates a vision of the room as a cozy and warm home. Without it, it is somehow empty, naked. No, we shouldn’t go without it, but we should pay it more attention and give it more thorough care. Do you clean it thoroughly? Are you able to clean the carpets yourself and deal with the carpet stain removal? And with disinfection? AllPro Carpet Cleaning offers a few do it yourself carpet cleaning tips that will greatly ease your life.

When you buy a carpet you need to consider many things. Would it be from natural or synthetic materials?  What would be the shape and dimensions, the colors? Once laid on the ground, the carpet becomes an integral part of the interior. You get used to it quickly and soon cease to notice it. Care to floor mats consist only regular cleaning with a vacuum cleaner and that is all.

Do It Yourself Carpet Cleaning Without Machines – Is It Possible?

Even we are very careful and there are no spots on our carpet, its main carpet cleaning is required at least 3-4 times a year. The vacuum cleaner fails to remove all the layered dirt in the mat, and it is unable to clear the fabric in depth. Therefore, it is necessary to be a little wet.

First DIY Carpet Cleaning Solution

One option is to use a sponge to spread and rub on the carpet with a soapy solution. We can easily make a Do It Yourself Carpet cleaning product if we fuse soap in a water bath and add the solution to hot water or if we grate the soap – the purpose of both methods is easier dissolve of the detergent. It should be noted that the liquid soap must be thick in order not to need rinsing and drying. In this method, it’s not necessary very hard rubbing in. The soap will do the basic work.

In the case of greater pollution and for better results, you can add a little turpentine to the DIY carpet cleaning detergent. If your mat is colorful, with lots of patterns, a clean soapy solution is enhanced with denatured or ethyl alcohol – the colors will be as vivid, as when the carpet was new.

How to wash carpet at home by hand?

While we’re on “wet” cleaning methods, let us mention a great way to get rid of stains. The first step is to soak the carpet in an aqueous solution of ammonia. The amount is determined according to the size of the carpet, but it must be followed proportion to 1 liter of water add 1 tablespoon of ammonia. Once the floor mat was soaked for at least 30 minutes, proceed to the main part – rub with detergent or soapy water. In this procedure avoid hard brushes as they may seriously impair the integrity of carpet by pulling individual fibers. Finally make several rinses thoroughly, and add a little vinegar to the last water.

Clean Your Carpet with Vinegar

Vinegar will do wonders for the carpet if it’s diluted with water in 1: 1 ratio and strengthen it with baking soda. Apply with a soft brush gently mixing throughout the area and concerns about cleaning disappear along with pesky dirt.

To be completely honest, it should be noted that no matter how effective the methods described so far are, they are unsuited for treatment of woolen carpets. It’s not recommended even cleaning with a damp cloth. As a consequence, even the smallest moisture will make woolen fibers stick and they won’t be so fluffy. The main part also suffers damage because it will rot. As a result, despite our best intentions, fibers will gradually tear, the carpet will have visibly progressive thinning and lose its charm.

Let’s face it – we often skip the moment with the basic cleaning of the carpet, because we don’t deal with all those wet stories. Still we procrastinate and procrastinate until the moment the washing is essential, but, unfortunately, it will no longer guarantee good results. Relax, there is an option, which can keep the carpet clean. And no, it is not difficult nor requires any special equipment or products.

How to Clean Carpet with Baking Soda?

You might be amazed, but everything you need is baking soda. It has been proven it is the mildest and neutral abrasive and sanitizes all kinds of surfaces without scratching them and violating their integrity. In its use even the least rubbing is unnecessary and it doesn’t lead to any exercise. For this cleaning miracle to happen, simply sprinkle soda evenly over the entire surface of the carpet. Allow to stay on for a minimum of twelve hours (maybe more if you have the patience) and carefully clean it with a vacuum cleaner. Something so simple to do probably seems unreal.

There is no way to be sure before you try and when you try – you’ll wonder why you haven’t tried before. We will give you even a bonus advice to this wonderful method of cleaning your carpets. If you want to get rid of the soaked odor in the fibers, you can cautiously sprinkle the textile with your favorite essential oils. We advise not to overdo the number of natural scents because they are too strong.  You may also get a result opposite to the desired one. Instead gently allusive fragrance the entire room can be filled with obsessive and suffocating odor.

DIY or A Professional Carpet Cleaning Company?

The quality of cleaning the carpet is an important task. Undeniable fact that it is not an easy task. You need to arm yourself with patience and diligence. You’ll need a few free hours only for sanitation initiative. And when you think about it all at once you might need to prepare yourself mentally. Well, of course, we are joking about the last one. Our goal is to remind you that you can save your worries by consulting our carpet cleaning professionals.
